Anyone have any knowledge of William White of Rappahannock River Virginia, planter, and Martha Smith, of same place, single woman, marrie d 8-4-1683, at hom of Howell Powell, Talb. Co MD. I have been told it was not unusual in those days for those living in Northern Neck of Virginia to go across to Maryland to get married. I am trying to trace the children of all the William White's in Rappa/Lancaster /Fauq. Co area in that era. Thank you. Ginny Keefer
I hvae copy sent to me by the clerk's office of Circuit Court of Fauquier Co VA in Warrenton, VA. I have not been able to find more information about some of the information listed on the sheet they sent me. I wonder if anyone out there has any reference books that might mention the following to help me. William White. 87B-88H/Lettis-90H, 95H. M 13-73, 1797 ag Thomas James, abates by death of pltf. { this date is when my William White Sr. died] This is referring to my newly found early ancestor, William White Sr who first married Mary ___ and married 2nd Ann, widow of James Bailey. William and Mary White had a daughter, Hannah White who married Thomas Russell James in Fauquier Co VA I am curious why William White Sr was su9ing his son in law??? Also wonder about M 8-27-1781. That appears to be a marriage date to me? Anyone with a Fauquier Co Marriage Book who would check for a William White marriage on that date and see to whom. Also wonder who Lettice was?? I understand all the other letters are referring to where the people lived in Fauq. Co then. I am also interested in locating a date and place of the marriage of William White Sr to Ann Bailey, widow of James Bailey. I would like to know her maiden name when she married James Bailey. William White Sr. died in 1797. He and Ann had no children together but both had adult married children by their previous marriage. William White was named guardian to the orphans of James Bailey when he died. So many questions and so little time...smile. GInny Keefer nee White
Taken from a map I have with names of the property located all over Lancaster Co in late 1600's and early 1700's. I am only listing those who lived close to the William White I am researching. Too many. Wyatt Carter White Clark Grimes Read Goldsmith Lee Clapham Taylor Moran Bond Thatcher Sevier Lawson Fleet Horton Lowry Edmonds Bell Myer Ball Cox Coleman Weir Pryne Batts Travers Place Phillips Slaater Hill Moock? Walker George Madison Nichols Hackett Walker Blakemore Johnson Yarrett Smith Conaway Pitman Brown Griffin Nutt Peace McNeal Moone Downman Bellwood? Nesham Roots Mells? All of above families lived on land close to Rappahannock River and area with Carrotoman River running through the area. in Lancaster Co Virginia. Those interested in these early families should check with Lancaster Co VA records. Note so many of these surnames show up close in Prince William Co and then Fauquier Co VA in early to late 1700's. This URL should be of interest to all those who research colonial Virginia and colonial North Carolina (where many of our Virginians migrated). _http://www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/historic_roads.htm_ (http://www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/historic_roads.htm) Some of these reports have been put on microfiche by the Family History Library, but having them online is wonderful. Comment: My find button under the Edit tool bar did not seem to work, but I noted there is an index toward the back of the publication. I did not try the Find button on the index. Be forewarned: Some of these books are hefty--the one for Fairfax Co. [a county of interest to me] is over 300 pages long!!!! Please circulate this URL (if the webmaster will let you) to other lists, particularly Virginia lists. E.W.Wallace

Eleanor Rogers, sister of Hannah Rogers dated 8 May 1718 and proved 9 July 1718 left her estate to her children Josias, Elizabeth Winifred and Lazarus Conway. She directed that her brother in law, Edward Blakemore and sister Hannah should bring up her sons Isaac White and Josias Conway and daughter Winifred Conway, and that her brother William Rogers and Margaret his wife should have her daughter Elizabeth Conway and son Lazarus Conway. Her brother William Rogers, Edward Blackmore and Miles Walters were named executors. DIED 1738. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/r/o/Linda-Brown-VA/GENE2-0001.html
George and Joseph were named in Lancaster County Order Book, 1713-21, page 62, August 11, 1714, when their aunt, Elizabeth Rogers Keene Banks (sister of William Rogers) went to court and informed the court that her brother left two small children, George and Joseph which she was doubtful would have a suitable education. The court ordered that Lazarus Conway and William Rogers, with whom the children were living to appear at the next court. Lazarus Conway was the second husband of Eleanor Rogers, daughter of William Rogers and Elizabeth Dale Rogers, and the William Rogers named was the son of William Rogers and Elizabeth Dale Rogers.
