    1. Re: [VAFAUQUI] Fauquier County Guardian Bonds
    2. ?Yes, John Hitt is deceased, but his death date was not 2/26/1806 it was the guardian bond that took place as of that date. For futher reference the dates on the guardian bonds I send are dates of the bonds not the deaths unless stated otherwise. The bonds from 1818 to 1871, except for the years 1834 to 1850, are contained in bound volumes now in the Archives Division, Virginia State Library, Richmond, Virginia.? The guardian was required by law to give an account of his ward's estate and the Court audited and recorded such accounts. Frequently, guardianships were revoked by the Court for failing to appropriately administer a ward's estate. -----Original Message----- From: Joan Norstedt <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Sent: Thu, 10 Jan 2008 10:25 am Subject: [VAFAUQUI] Fauquier County Guardian Bonds I have a very basic question I'm embarrassed to ask but I must - in reading this example for a Guardian Bond, does this mean John Hitt is "deceased," and the Guardian Bond is dated 26 Feb 1806? or does it mean that John Hitt died 26 Feb 1806? 1. [VAFAUQUI] Constables again!
    2. Robert Schneider
    3. Hi! Thanks for the reply. The Constable line you mention in your email is one I have checked on. It's out there as a potential connection with my Constable line. I've learned a few things for sure. My impression is that the Constable name is not common. So, my inclination is to regard every Constable/Canstable in the MD/VA area as a potential cousin. There were numerous Constables in MD, especially Baltimore area and those MD counties bordering northern VA. Also, I have found Constables showing up in VA as early as 1584. There is a record of one Marmaduke Constable landing in VA in 1584 with Sir Walter Raleigh and spending a year in the colony. At this stage, I think I need to get deeper into the MD records to find connections to William and Mary Ann Constable from Fauquier. Robert Schneider > 1. 2. Someone was asking about a map of the Formation of Virginia Counties. This information is MOST important for all States, but in Virginia, where so many of us have colonial roots, the information is critical. Many of our brick walls are created because we are looking in the wrong county. Always look for records in surrounding counties--because Virginia has so many *burned counties*. _http://www.myvirginiagenealogy.com/va_maps/va_cf.htm_ (http://www.myvirginiagenealogy.com/va_maps/va_cf.htm) (Rootsweb will add punctuation marks fore and aft the URL, so remove those marks before pasting.)
