    1. [VAFAUQUI] Will of JAMES ALLEN provided by Margaret Schmidt of Chicago
    2. Amanda E. Douglass
    3. Dear Margo, Here's why your post is of such great interest at least to me. My 5x great grandfather was Alexander McConchie of Fauquier County, Va. The earliest mention I think I have found of him was concerning the inventory of Capt. Robert Knox of Maryland in which he was named along with Lott Hackley and JAMES ALLEN. Have been searching to identify who that JAMES ALLEN could have been? Lott Hackley I know and his sister in law, Mildred (Reeds) Brown married James Stigler. They had son James Stigler who married Ann Field Allen. But I've not been able to find out who the JAMES ALLEN was who accompanied Lott Hackley and Alex. McConchie to do inventory. Here is the record that really ties in with the Will of of James Allen that you were so kind to share. JAMES STIGLER, gdn. of Nancy Pendleton, orph. of George Pendleton, dec'd. 23 October 1820, For $50. Sec: Peter Wiggenton. J.P.: William Skinker, Chandler Peyton, James Pickett, Alexander D. Kelly. Wit: Thos. C. Kelly, D.F.C. [Note: George Pendleton was married May 27, 1801... Below record has George Pendleton m. FNU Allen, sister of Ann F. Allen & Elizabeth Allen. Sally Allen married George Pendleton and she is named "SALLY KIRK PENDLTON" in Will of James Allen. We believe that the William Jones, Jr. below to be the son of William Jones m. Diadema HOLMES. Diadema Holmes had brother Nathaniel S. Holmes. (Spelling HOOMES, etc.) For those of you that have been trying to solve who the Charles Jones was that married Ann Childs, the witness GEORGE ELLIS on Will of JAMES ALLEN may turn out to be a very benefical lead! Explain that in separate email for those trying to sort out JONES lines in Fauquier County. Thanks again, Margo for sharing! Amanda Court Record Data Context Extract Bill of Sale - slave Ann F. 2. Margaret, The ALLEN family mentioned in this will are very familar to me. My first known ALLEN ancestor was John ALLEN Sr., born abt. 1645 and married Barbara WITHERS. Their son, William ALLEN, born in Stafford Co., Va. in abt. 1675, married Margaret WAGGONER. Their daughter, Dinah ALLEN married John JAMES. They lived in Fauquier Co., Va. I don't know who the ALLENS were in the will you posted, but I am quite sure they are the same family of ALLENS. Velma Finley **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. 3. Margo, Wow! What a timely Will you've posted. I'm working on this line because I'm trying to find out who the James Allen was who did the inventory along with Lott Hackley and Alex. McConchie of Capt. Robert Knox of Maryland. Henry Allen married Catherine McConchie, d/o of Alexander McConchie and Ann LNU. June has done extensive work on these lines and have provided me with many records. I'd like to share a few that will tie in with the one you've posted. Thank you! 3. This is from the Rootsweb site: Spam is not welcome on any list and it causes many problems. The massive loads these mass emails produce can cause the computers at RootsWeb to grind to a halt. We use spam filters to help stop these, but occasionally, some will get through. Sometimes, a person will subscribe to the list, send spam, then unsubscribe before you or the admin is aware that it happened. We call these "hit and run spammers." Some spammers will "spoof" or fake the return address to make it look like it came from RootsWeb when it really did not. When you get spam, please do not report it to your ISP. Unless they check the full headers to see that we were innocent, RootsWeb may be the site that is blocked by your ISP. We ask your patience when this happens. It is best to let the List admin deal with these. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathy Shifflett Phillips" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 27, 2008 8:18 AM Subject: [VAFAUQUI] Dear [email protected], > I use a good spam filter, and you probably do the same. > I have whitelisted you and that means that I will receive all the emails > you send to me. > I would appreciate it if you would whitelist my email address: > [email protected] in your spam filter. > > If you don't have a spam filter, I can recommend SPAMfighter.
