    3. Hello Elizabeth, I would love to have any and all information concerning the Holders. I suspect that my 4th Great Grandfather was in the Johnston Co., NC area in the 1750-1770 time period which is next door to Harnette, so any tidbit could be helpful. 3. Hello Robert - We have corresponded before and it appears you are having better luck than am I. I strongly suspect your John Carr was a brother to my Samuel Carr, b 1803, and son of George Carr who was b in 1746 New Jersey to Walter Carr. George accompanied by Samuel Carr traveled from the Franklin Co., TN area to Illinois in the 1810-1820 time period and spent a bit of time with a brother of George's, James Carr, before moving on to Franklin Co., MO then Morgan Co., MO (where George died in 1835/36). Samuel took his family ( married a daughter, Mary, of Augustin Sims in Illinois) to Lawrence Co., MO and finally settled in Dade Co., MO about 1845. This Carr family seem to have all been Indian fighters and wanderers. My connection to Fauquier is a perfect match on DNA with two ladies who have a proven paper trail to LUKE HOLDER b abt 1725. Luke was the Father of Capt/Col John Holder who was known for his assistance to Daniel Boone in the beginning of Fort Boonesboro, KY and as an Indian Fighter. However, my paper trail does not go to Luke but must belong with a brother of Luke. We have several names of Holders in the Fauquier/Loudon counties born in the 1710-1720 time period who we think are brothers, but can't seem to connect together for lack of their Father's name. They are DAVIS HOLDER, JOSEPH HOLDER AND WILLIAM HOLDER. Known descendants of William and I share a close DNA connection, but my 3rd G Grandfather, Solomon Holder, b 1769 does not appear to be a son of William. We don't have a DNA sample from the Davis group, but they have their family documented and Solomon doesn't seem to belong to them either. Therefore I'm pointing at Joseph. I know he didn't stay long in Fauquier, (married a daughter of James Cox in Orange Co., VA about 1735according to the Cox Will), then migrated on to Johnston Co., NC and Surry Co., NC. I'm hoping someone in Fauquier/Loudon/Prince William can help with the beginnings of this family. Keep me posted on your findings about your Carrs. I'm sure we can count each other a cousin. 3. Hi Shirley! I believe we've corresponded before. The potential connection with the Holder family is my Carr family and the Keith family. I have continued bumping into Holders as I've worked through Alabama, Georgia, Stone County, MO and now Carroll County, AR. It turns out that my 4th gr grandfather John Carr served in the Florida War and Cherokee Removal. He received a land bounty for that service ad took the bounty in Carroll County. He sold the bounty to someone named Daniel S. Hayter in late 1857. What is your connection with Fauquier? If there were Holders in Fauquier, maybe some of my Carr line might have been there, too. If I'm not mistaken, some of the Holders served in the southern Indian Wars with the Carrs and Keiths, all from Jackson County, AL. I have a Constable family and a Harper family with Fauquier connections. William Constable appears to have originated in Maryland and moved to Fauquier. I still don't know the origin of the Harpers. My earliest record is of a marriage between Isaac Harper and Jemima Constable. 3. Recently, I've been poking around with associated names in the Jackson Purchase area of Kentucky. All those names are repeated down there in Calloway & Marshall Co, KY. They have different given names than reported here recently. Along with Bussey, Hurt & Smith, there are Utterback and many others. Its a small world, I suppose. My 5x great grandfather was Alexander McConchie of Fauquier County, Va. The earliest mention I think I have found of him was concerning the inventory of Capt. Robert Knox of Maryland in which he was named along with Lott Hackley and JAMES ALLEN. Have been searching to identify who that JAMES ALLEN could have been? Lott Hackley I know and his sister in law, Mildred (Reeds) Brown married James Stigler. They had son James Stigler who married Ann Field Allen. But I've not been able to find out who the JAMES ALLEN was who accompanied Lott Hackley and Alex. McConchie to do inventory. Here is the record that really ties in with the Will of of James Allen that you were so kind to share. JAMES STIGLER, gdn. of Nancy Pendleton, orph. of George Pendleton, dec'd. 23 October 1820, For $50. Sec: Peter Wiggenton. J.P.: William Skinker, Chandler Peyton, James Pickett, Alexander D. Kelly. Wit: Thos. C. Kelly, D.F.C. [Note: George Pendleton was married May 27, 1801... Below record has George Pendleton m. FNU Allen, sister of Ann F. Allen & Elizabeth Allen. Sally Allen married George Pendleton and she is named "SALLY KIRK PENDLTON" in Will of James Allen. We believe that the William Jones, Jr. below to be the son of William Jones m. Diadema HOLMES. Diadema Holmes had brother Nathaniel S. Holmes. (Spelling HOOMES, etc.) For those of you that have been trying to solve who the Charles Jones was that married Ann Childs, the witness GEORGE ELLIS on Will of JAMES ALLEN may turn out to be a very benefical lead! Explain that in separate email for those trying to sort out JONES lines in Fauquier County. Thanks again, Margo for sharing! Amanda Court Record Data Context Extract Bill of Sale - slave Ann F.
