As shown in the Will of James Childs previously sent, he named James Richards. James Childs' wife Milly McConchie had sister Dorothy McConchie m. John Humphries. John Humphries had brother THOMAS HUMPRIES m. Elizabeth RICHARDS. Elizabeth Richards was daughter of William Richards. I believe the James Richards named in Will of James Childs to be brother of Elizabeth. I think the FATHER of JAMES RICHARDS and ELIZABETH RICHARDS was WILLIAM RICHARDS and he was married to ELIZA MILLER, d/o of SIMON MILLER. Another interesting association was that Charles Jones named his niece Tabitha A. Waugh in his will. Tabitha A. Waugh in her will had witness STANTON G. EMBREY. It looks as if STANTON G. EMBREY married "Delia" Miller, d/o of SIMON MILLER but I think this SIMON MILLER was SON of the SIMON MILLER whose daughter married WILLIAM RICHARDS. Also, Charles Jones and Sidney F. Chapman proved inventory of William Stone to Benjamin N. Barnett in 1834/5 so THERE MUST BE JONES line close to these lines? Thanks! Amanda Court Record Data Context Extract Birth John A. Hi Shirley, Ann Childs who married Charles Jones was not married previously to a RIXEY according to her father's will. One clue in below will is mention of RICHARDS line. Ann Childs' Aunt Dorothy McConchie who married John Humphries had close relationship with RICHARDS line. John Humphries' brother THOMAS HUMPHRIES married Elizabeth Richards, d/o William Richards. I believe below James Richards must have been a BROTHER of Elizabeth Richards? Will send the RICHARS associations next because in all this, there's got to be as you say some more nuggets. I am still looking for a family for William "Billy" Edmonds (b. abt 1805) and Octavia "Tave" Edmonds (b. 1810). I still strongly believe they belong to William Edmonds (1763- ) and his wife Sally. William (1763- ) was the son of Capt. John Edmonds (1737-1798). Capt. John Edmonds was the orignial owner of what became Belle Grove now part of Sky Meadows State Park near Paris VA. I have just discovered that William Edmonds (1763- ) had two sons, Thomas and John. The tax lists prove this beyond doubt as they are identified as sons. The two sons were tithable age in 1810 and the census record confirms same. William also had two daughters, Jane and Elizabeth (confirmed by marriage records). Jane Edmonds husband, Wesley Brown (son of Daniel Brown), lived close to the Edmonds in Upperville - Paris area and is also found nearby in census and land tax records. Elizabeth married Francis Rollow and lived in Stafford County. I am trying to put William "Billy" Edmonds (b. 1805-1807) and Octavia Edmonds (b. 1810) into this family by way of some confirming reocrd. Billy and Octavia are definately related as confirmed by handwritten letters from the period which also definatively tie them to the Fauquier Edmonds. The 1810 census holds out hope that Billy and Octavia, belong in this family group. The family apparently leaves Fauquier in 1817 for parts unknown. It looks like Billy shows back up in Fauquier in 1824 and 1825, he then reappears in 1839 & 1840 in Kanawha County with Chiltons and Edmonds en route to their final destination in and around Boonville Missouri later in 1840. Do any of you Fauquier Edmonds researchers have a stray Thomas or John in their notes?

I wanted to follow up with a tremendous THANK YOU to MIKE BURKE for getting in touch with the most precise directions you can imagine to the grave of Patriot William Burk. I've never met him but talk about going above and beyond the call of duty, he did it! The Culpeper Minute Men had a ceremony back in 1991 to mark the grave but I never could get directions and I can well understand why. This little area of graves is in a very remote area and had it not been for Mike driving all the way from Herndon, VA over to blaze a trail for us, we never would have found it. Plus there was an electronic gate which was locked. Artie got Mike on the phone and he said the gate was always open...accept when I drive couple hundred miles from NC! So there we were knocking on the door of the house that faces the drive. A wonderful lady answered the door, checked us out and determined we weren't robbers so she went into action and called the person who had the code and we got through the gate. What a nice lady! From there, we followed a gravel road and turned off onto more like a tractor path that went up and down extreme terrain and finally ended in a field. We then drove through waste high grass while hugging the tree line of this field until we saw markers tied to trees and parked. We saw a slight clearing in the trees and waded through the grass into a semi opening in dense thicket and saw headstones. We found William Burk's grave all the while swatting bugs and man was it hot! The other stones aren't marked but you can still see the W.B. like the picture from 1991. I'm sharing this with you all because one of the ladies with us said that there was guy by name of Larry Payne and his wife that are currently going around to all the gravesites of Patriots and recording the locations etc. That way if the land is ever developed, these graves will be on record and not bulldozed over with an "oops, we didn't know". Can anyone put me in touch with this person? I'm trying to contact Culpeper Minute Men to share these directions and current photo as well. If anyone has contemplated trying to find a grave, don't give up and keep trying--it's well worth it! My thanks to all of you, Amanda
Dear Elmer, Question: Could your Lincefield Sharpe be the witness on the Will of Robert Embrey below? Question: Would you know who the parents might be for Ann A. Sharpe that married Sidney F. Chapman? Thank you, Amanda I have an elusive Jones line which I know is swirling around many of these names most likely the William Jones that was on the list of Capt. Benj. Harrison's comp. of Volunteers of Fauquier County. I saw the name "Linefield Sharp" and this might be a lead for me. William Stone was married to widow Mary Morris of Saunders Morris. I have copies of William Stone's will and excutive account. William Stone had a daughter Margaret who married Francis Childs, brother of Ann Childs that married Charles Jones. Charles Jones and Sidney F. Chapman proved the executive account to Benjamin N. Barnett on the 29th of October 1835 as best I can read the document. (William Stone's will was proved 28 November 1831.) I don't know the parents of Sidney F. Chapman but think he could be the one below: Sidney F. Chapman married Ann A. Sharpe 1/1815 bondsman: Israel Glascock I'm thinking if I could find out who Ann A. Sharpe's parents were, this might help find the Jones line for Charles? I've seen the name "Lincefield Sharpe" as a witness on the Will of Robert Embrey. (Embrey lines are very closely tied to my lines.) Will of Robert Embrey 26 Oct. 1784, 25 June 1779 Book 2, page 188 Fauquier County Named grandson: Robert Embrey (son of Charles) to have 82 a lying between Carter's line and Summerduck Run. Hello Again List, I am looking for someone to do an errand to the courthouse for me. I need a copy of a will: William McQuinn of Baltimore, MD in Fauquier County, VA, 1856, Will Book 26 page 229 I will pay for your time and trouble. Please contact me at [email protected] Thanks Scott
Hello List, I am looking for more information on this family. They are listed in the 1860 census of Fauquier County, VA with children: Arabella, Henry and Lucy. Then I find Ann in the 1870 census of Ward 5 Washington DC. She is then listed in the 1880 census of Alexandria, VA as a widow. What happened to her family? When and where did she die? Any help on this family would be appreciated. Thanks Scott Kendall

There is a picture on this site of Neavil's Mill http://www.hallowedground.org/content/view/261/65 -----Original Message----- From: Missi N. <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, 22 May 2008 5:32 pm Subject: [VAFAUQUI] Neavil's Mill, Neavil's Ordinary Hello there. My family are planning a trip to Fauquier this weekend, in order to take photographs of the area my ancestors lived in. Would anyone on the list have advice on locating Neavil's Mill, or the site where Neavil's Ordinary stood? We're coming in from Kentucky, and armed with only a couple of photos of the historical markers. I have notes that the markers are near Rogues and Old Auburn Roads. If anyone knows the area and has suggestions for routes, I'd be most grateful. I can be contacted offlist at Nmissi At Gmail Dot com.
