    1. [VAFAUQUI] Gray and Taylor
    2. Ken Gray
    3. Hello all. I am stuck at a couple of grandfathers in Fauquier County in the early 1800's. First is Jessee Gray who married Roda Browne in Fauquier 23 March 1818. Second block is Vincent Taylor. He is first listed in the 1810 census. In 1850, the 99 year old Vincent Taylor is in the household of Armistead Taylor (his grandson?) Enoch Barber, superintendent of a poor house in Fauquier reported the death of Vincent Taylor, white, aged 104, on 21 October 1854. This information is from "Vincent Taylor of Leeds Parish" on RootsWeb. Anyone researching Jessee Gray or Vincent Taylor? Thanks. Ken Gray

    3. Holy cow......this may turn out to be very significant.  There was a James F. Cash in Caroline County (early -- like 1820) who I've always thought might be related to my group in some way.  Maybe he was this James Frederick Cash! The books are VERY resonable and come with a spirial type binding which makes them so great to work with both at home and on the go. I believe that he came to live in Fauquier at the end of his life near his sons. Jeremiah his son lists his place of birth as Prince William County VA in his pension record but is found in Fauquier records. There are numerous references to Thomas in Prince William County VA from about 1745 until the late 1760's. While he did own land at one time he seems to have been one of those people who owned land in burned (lost record) counties. He not only ran an ordinary in Fauquier he also owned and ran one in Prince William. The land records for the time frame in Prince William I believe are non extant so you have to rely on the fragmented court records. It is not always normal to see sale of slaves in deed records. I am sure that there were a lot of slave sales that took place that were not recorded in deed books but those sales do show that he was in the area and for the buyer it showed who owned and therefore was taxed on the slave. He seems to have sold several slaves near the end of his life. Which of his children do you descend from? You can contact me and hopefully I can help you with your research. For the list the reference to Thomas Boggess, Jr vs the exec of his father , I believe that is a court record but I could not find it in the chancery records anywhere.
