It was then that this 34-acre area known as Seven Corners was rezoned from suburban to general business. Frederick Foote, a black man with white and Indian blood, had purchased 34 acres for $500 in 1864. In his will, he directed that the land must remain in the family and never be sold. The annual taxes on the property grew to tremendous proportions. However, his descendants obtained a release from the will's provision and sold the acreage for $750,00.
