VA will Book 1674-1770 p. 5.dtd8 Jan 1702/3 prob. 1 Feb 1702/3: VA Deed Book 2 (Middlesex)1694-1703 pg. 134 Bond for Elizabeth Summers, widow and Admx. John Summers, with order to inventory estate: Crozier, William Armstrong. VA Col. Militia 1651-1776. 1965 p. 99. Listed John Summers as Drummer in Middlesex Co. militia. He married: Elizabeth Thompson daughter of Will Thompson & Eleanor Montague. She was dead by Nov. 1694. (2nd) Ann Minns (Widow of Thomas Minns) (3) Elizabeth ? by 14 Jun 1702. After his death she married John Hickey in 1704: then Edward Pendergrast in 1711. Elizabeth died 27 Jul. 1717: He had seven children: The seventh was Francis Summers, bapt. 14 June 1702. d. btwn 15 Oct. 1793 & 7 May 1796 per John Summers will. In his will he names Francis as his son in law and not as his son as are John and William. He may be son of 3rd wife Elizabeth...This matter has not been resolved.This Francis (Frank) Summers married about 1742 Mrs. Sarah Hardage Lane, widow of William Lane who died in 1741. Their children were Col. George Summers, bo. 1743 d. 1801 and Elizabeth Summers, b. 1745, d. 28 Oct. 1824 "Son of John Summers #1" is the 3rd child. We will refer to him as John Summers #2. He was bapt. 14 Nov. 1686 in Middlesex Co.m VA and died 4 Dec. 1790 in Fairfax Co. VA. He was said to have over 400 descendants at the time of death. Francis Summers (John2, John1) had as his 4th child "Francis Summers"...this Francis summers died June 22, 1822 married Sarah Farr. Together they had a daughter...Jane Summers b. by 1810: Jane married Benoni Price.. She died by 10 Sept 1800. Col.
