Have been following all versions of "Old John Summers" family for several years and agree there are many errors, incorrect generations and relationships - even in cited sources. For reference I have them all saved trying to sort out. Who is SETH? - is she Seth Harrison d/o Captain Thomas Harrison?, and the Harrisons have been all mixed up not mention that now. Here is a file posted Rootsweb by charles Heffler that includes very good notes on this same point: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=heffwest&id=I855 HEFFLER-STRONG ALSDORF-PENISTEN Entries: 5289 Updated: 2005-11-18 03:25:11 UTC (Fri) Contact: charles heffler Name: seth "sythia" frances short Surname: short Given Name: seth "sythia" frances Sex: F Birth: 1667 in stafford county, virginia Note: Name: Sythia Elizabeth Short Sex: F Birth: ABT. 1667 in Maryland Death: AFT. 1746 in Virginia Note: Her name was likely Seth Short. From: "Two May Families - of Hollow Square, Greene County, Alabama" by Berenice May Fuller, Getweay Press 1988, page 300, "What these sources do not agree about is the name of his wife. In 'Maryland Genealogies', Vol. I p. 233, (published by Genealogical Pub. Co., 1980), she is designated as Sythia Elizabeth Short. One descendant, Walter Harrison (1863-1955) also names Sythia Short. On the memorial marker in the Harrison Cemetery the name is Sophia C. Short. South Carolina genealogist Leonardo Andrea, using the Index of Wills in Stafford Co., Virginia, shows Wills recorded for Thomas Harrison and his wife Anna. This could be a different Thomas Harrison." [This could also be a second spouse] The will of John West reports that she was "Seith Harrison, the wife of Captain Thomas Harrison", and she received 500 lbs of tobacco to buy a mourning ring. Coincidentally, he also left 1000 lbs of tobacco to "Seith Lucas, the wife of Henry Lucas." Might they have been related? The only other woman known to have had this name were a daughter and three granddaughters of Capt. Thomas Harrison and Seth Linton, the daughter of Moses Linton. The last was a godchild of the Captain's. Harrison called his residence "Retirement," the name assigned by "Old Captain Brent" to his home on Aquia Creek.
