Jesse Moore was the brother of Jeremiah Moore who was profiled in the Sep 4 issue. Henry Moore, also of Colchester, Fairfax County (previously Prince WilliamCounty), may be connected with William Moore and his sons, Jesse and Jeremiah, in an unknown manner. He wrote his will on 17 May 1772, and it is recorded in Fairfax County Will Book C, P. 149-151. He mentions his land inFairfax Co including two lots in the town of Colchester and his land inMaryland. His will identifies his children as: sons Cleon and Cato; ;my four daughters ; Susanna-married to GEORGE SUMMERS, Sarah, Jane King, and Ann Pinner. He mentions his wife, but does not list her name. He also leaves bequests of 8 pounds current money to Mrs. Hannah Brent, wife of Mr. William Brent of Dumfries, and her brother Mr. Thomas Neale. He appointed ;Hector Ross and Alexander Henderson and son, Cleon, Executors. The will waswitnessed by Mary Courts, William Hamilton, John Davidson, Allen Macdonald,James Rattray and proved on 14 April 1773. As a result of the division between Loudoun and Fairfax Counties, the new boundary line was surveyed. A map of this survey was entered in the Fairfax County records by W. Payne on 17 April 1798. The map also showed the principal roads, turnpikes, and water courses that intersected the line. The homes of nearby property owners were illustrated in their approximate locations. Some attempt was made to show the relative sizes of the buildings, number of stories, windows, pedimented gables, and single or twinned chimneys. Eleven houses were in the vicinity of the project area between Ox Road to the north and the "Road from Leesburg to Alexandria" to the south. The eleven owners were Nathaniel Fitzhugh, COL. SOMERS, Mrs. Lane, Charles Turley, Michael Ashford, Joseph Horseman, George Hucherson, Mr. Riddles, Andrew Hucherson, Mrs. Hucherson, and Ben Hucherson. The Fitzhugh family built a large farm complex in the early nineteenth century that later became known as Leeton; the remains of this complex were identified in the project area during the Phase I archeological investigation of the NASM Dulles Center property. _http://www.si.edu/oahp/dulles/dulles4.htm_ (http://www.si.edu/oahp/dulles/dulles4.htm) ********************** Loudoun Deed Book M Page 123 This indenture made 15 day of June 1778 between Absalom Fox and Christian Fox his wife and Jonas Clapham for and in consideration of the sum of 800 poundscurrent money of Virginia to them in hand paid by said Jonas Clapham beforesealing and delivering of these presents ..... hath sold all that tract orparcel of land situate and lying and being on broad run in the County ofLoudoun and consisting of 500 acres which Absalom Fox purchased of John Berryman.Signed Absalom Fox Christian X Fox hermark In presence of Ambrose Fox Thomas Pritchard **** (my interest as) Gabriel Fox William Fox Benjamin Mason George Summers Har (?)
