He emigrated to Pittsfield, IL between 1842-1844 with the Isaiah ADAMS family from Stephentown, NY. Dec 2, 1851, he married Amy Ann ADAMS, daughter of Isaiah ADAMS, and they resided in Pittsfield all their lives; raising 5 children: Twins - Ella Anna & Joseph, born 1859 (Joseph died at age 3); William Carter, born 1857 (my grandfather); George William, born 1869; and Anna M., born 1874 and died 1875. He served in "C" Company of the 99th regiment of the Illinois Volunteers during the Civil War (military records confirm this). He died August 26, 1881 in Pittsfield and is buried there. His wife, Amy, followed him in death Sept 29, 1920 and is also buried there. Any help would be most appreciated.
