James Clark Anderson was the son of Charles Anderson that served in the Virginia Continental Line during the Revolutionary War. His family was Scotch-Irish and settled in the Augusta, Virginia area. This article also refers to a John Anderson that had 4 sons: Robert, James, Andrew, and William and all four were Revolutionary Officers. Robert served as a Colonel in South Carolina, while the others were Captains in the Virginia Line. James Clark Anderson and his brother (unamed) ran away from home stopping in North Carolina where James learned the tanner's trade and his brother learned he hatter's trade. James then moved on to Oconee County, Georgia and established a tannery. A child of James, Rev. Emory Fletcher Anderson, wed Margaret Susan Frances Foster and they had 9 children. Two of these children were (twins) Harvey Lewis Anderson and Andrew Lewis Anderson, born August 11, 1871, in Oconee County, Georgia. Other children listed were: Wilhelmina (Clement H. Ashford), John F., Emory Fletcher, Lucy F., Mary D. (J. D. Gresham), and James, who was killed by accident when a youth. Andrew Lewis Anderson wed in 1895 Miss Maymie Hendrix, daughter of Captain John C. Hendrix, and they have one son, Harvey Lee Anderson. Harvey Lewis Anderson wed on November 12, 1901, Miss Laurie Davis, daughter of Charles A. Davis. Harvey's tragic death on November 6, 1909, shocked the Atlanta community. They had no children.
