William Payne (born 1724) was the Chief Justice of Fairfax County and among other things, a Vestry of Truro Parrish, Sherriff of Fairfax County and the brother of Edward Payne. I have extensive genealogical information and will be glad to share upon request however most info is published in "The Paynes of Virginia" by Brooke Payne. His son, also William (born 1741/2)was also a vestry of Truro Parrish, Surveyor and Sheriff of Fairfax County, Justice of Fairfax County, and a pall bearer at George Washington's funeral. I'm really looking for his papers from a historical rather than a genealogical perspective. He was probably a prominent man. Thanks!
