    1. Re: Re: [VAFairfax] Re: Jared Trammell
    2. Thanks for the hints. I will seek out the books you mentioned at our library. This is why I'm confused. My seond great grandfather, Nimrod William Trammell was b. in Fairfax County 1840-42 (depending on which census you believe). He stated on his marriage license in 1875 that his parents were Jarrett and Ann Trammell of Fairfax County, Va. I have a marriage license for Jarrett and Bytha Daily in Washington DC in April 1837. (Assuming this to be Tabitha). In 1850 census for Dranesville, we find Tabitha Trammell (a widow) living with her brother, Alexander Daily and two sisters, along with three children, George, Margaret and John. However, Nimrod is not living there. He, instead, is living with Jared Trammell, a schoolteacher, Ann and Mahlon Trammell. We again find him with Jared in 1860. In 1870, after a stint in the Union army and being wounded at Chancellorsville, he is back in Providence County, working on a farm, not his own. I have read several accounts in Family Trees where they state that Tabitha and Alexander were married, not true. I am really confused about the "widow" part. Jared is over 80 in 1860, leaving him a little old to have fathered Nimrod, but not out of the question. Is Ann is mother? I have a million questions and no answers yet. Thanks for letting me tell the story! I have a John Trammel in the book This Was the Life; Excerpts from the Judgment Records of Frederick County, Maryland 1748-1765. by Millard Milburn Rice. In November 2754 John Trammel Jr. petitioned the court to operating a Ferry at or near Potowmack (Potomac) near a place called Conoy Island. In 1755 a John Trammel brought suit for money owed him. In 1759 a John Trammel was sued by Dr. Troutwine for services rendered. I know the feeling! In another book Montgomery County Marriage License 1798-1898 by Manuel. There are 6, Trammels mentioned. Please give me the names you are looking for. Helen Hi, I am interested in the Dailey family connected to Trammell. Do you know where they came from or parents? Some Trammell's can be found in Frederick and Montgomery Cos, Maryland. Look around Brunswick and Point of Rocks. There was a Trammellstown (?sp) near there too. Your Dailey's might be there too. Also consider different spellings for Dailey, such as, Daly. Valerie --------------------------------- Brings words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo!
