    2. From my collection of notes. All comments added by me include a current year in paranthasis e.g 2005-2006. Welcome additions/ corrections with documentation. Here is a John Summers - his will probated Feb 1788 in Fairfax Co Va. He named wife Marey at death - Children: John, Simon, William, Mary Humphrey, Sarah Ferguson Comparing with other documents it seems to agree: Will book Fairfax Co, Va Summrs, John 28 Jan 1788 Feb 1788 Wife: Marey. Children: John, Simon, William, Mary Humphrey, Sarah Ferguson. Daughters to have land on the waters of the Ohio. Son in law James Sharp Ferguson and William Ferguson 400 acres each. Exrs: wife and sons Simon and John. Wit: William Lewis, Charles Broadwater, William Summers. Sorting this out 2005 Questions noted to myself to investigate: This we know from will.... Owns land on waters in Ohio in per will 1788 (2005 -1000 acres in Kentucky County, N & S of Mill Creek, bordering the Ohio River per other poster) Wife Mary alive at his death in Feb 1788 (may be nee Sharp, Wickliff or Kinchelo) names 3 sons : John, Simon and William - alive after 1819 names 2 daughters: Mary married a Humphrey? and Sarah nee Summers Ferguson m James Sharp Ferguson Daughters to have land on water of the Ohio and who is William Ferguson relationship? August 2005 - This John Sommers d Feb 1788 appears to be s/o old John Summers aka John Summers Sr Agrees with data on following court record 1819? Simon Summers age 68 (not sure of exact document date 1819?) would give apx birth date of 1740. From a message posted another researcher - referencing same information as collected: Will of John Summers Will written 28 Jan 1788. Deed dated Nov 1740 was transferred to his children in 1785, for 10 00 acres of land in Kentucky County, N & S of Mill Creek, bordering the Ohio River. John's 3r d wife, Marey, was widow of Joshua Ferguson (will proved 7 Apr 1770), and the Mother of John' s children;s spouses- Elizabeth Ferguson and James Sharp Ferguson. Mary's maiden name unprov en. Marey Summers was on the tax rolls until 1796. 2006- comments - Possibly 1000 acres of land in Kentucky transferred to children per will 1788 was received for service in Revolution?. Still working on this. Who is the Humphrey daughter Mary Summers married? What a tangled web. Hope someone finds this useful. Anne (researching surname Pritchartt and relationships)

    3. Just a comment on a secondary point. The land in Kentucky referred to as having been transferred in the 1788 will not necessarily have been for Revolutionary service. It is a possibility, but there was also a great deal of land in Kentucky (then part of Virginia) which was offered for sale by the new state of Virginia shortly after the Revolution. My own Fairfax ancestor, George Williams, bequeathed a few thousand acres of such land in Kentucky to his heirs in his 1794 will. Records of warrants for both purchased and bounty land are available from the Library of Virginia archives. Annerupert@aol.com wrote: >From my collection of notes.
