Hi, In my previous reply, I should have said _1800_, so that it would read as follows: If a person was 80 years old in the 1880 Census and was born in Virginia, then you would have his location, as of _1800_, as it gives the county (I believe) as well as the state where they were born. It's possible that their ancestors were in that location even earlier. Also, if a person were older than 80 years in the 1880 Census, then you would get his place of birth which would have been in the1790s or earlier. Valerie
