The site, situated in Leeds Manor, was located midway between Ashby's Gap and Snicker's Gap on the Loudoun (Fairfax then) side of the Blue Ridge foothills where the mountain range forms a cove. Assuming the settlers were migrant squatters (from PA), for all intents and purposes, they were non-existent beings -- without official documentation in the County (Fairfax then). A Loudoun legend has circulated for 250 years that corroborates the Indian raid and that legend fits perfectly into Boucher family history that documents that Peter Boucher, an infant child, survived the raid and the orphaned child was legally bound to a millwright. The tithe records of 1767 & 1768 collected by Leven Powell (Middleburg, VA) verify Peter's existence in Loudoun. I desparately need to prove the demise of Matthew Boucher! 's family.
