My Reynolds family were Joseph Warder Reynolds and Anna Maria Stonnell. They married in 1864 at the home of Richard H Warder in Alexandria. Anna was born in Stafford Co VA in 1838 (d/o William Stonnell and Elizabeth Warder - Margaret Lovejoy was William's 2nd wife) and Joseph Warder Reynolds was born 1828 in Shepherdstown, Jefferson Co VA (now WVa). He was s/o George Reynolds and Catherine Lein. There were no visible Davids in this family. These Reynolds were in Frederick Co MD in 1742 and in Boonesboro, Washington Co MD in 1784. Cannot go back further than 1742. Cheers

I am researching a REYNOLDS in the area of Alexandria, VA, so am taking the chance there might be a connection. His name was David Reynolds, who died in 1821 and is buried in the Cemetery of Trinity United Church in Alexandria. He married Louisa Fowler in 1802 in Saint George or Poplar Hill Church, William and Mary Parish, Saint Marys, Maryland. Hello Cousin Allen Fairfax, I believe we may learn something if we can determine the names of the British Soldiers in the British Regiments in North Carolina Skirmishes during the 1776 - 1783 timeframe???? Maybe somebody can help us do a lookup for any FAIRFAX British soldiers??? Possibly somebody can check the Raleigh, NC State Archive "Lewis FAIRFAX" file? There is a location called "Tories Island" near the "Wolf Pen Swamp" area between Fair Bluff, NC - Columbus County, and Chadburn, NC - Columbus County which was used as a refuge for loyalists during the Revolutionary War, but the area would have been referenced in either Brunswick County or Bladen County, NC since Columbus County, NC was not set up until 1805/1806. Maybe somebody with Ancestry.com access can see if they have developed such a listing yet? Great discussion! THANKS! Cousin Dan Fairfax 2629 Somerset Drive Nashville, Tennessee 37217 [email protected] ============================ -----Original Message----- From: Allen Fairfax [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, November 09, 2001 3:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: DAR Patriot Lookup: Reference Code RZJBJBK FAIRFAX Hello Dan, My question in regard to this William (Maryland/Virginia) was why/how/if a descendant of William would apply for a land warrant in North Carolina? If the "heirs of William Fairfax" lived in North Carolina, even if William Fairfax did not fight for a NC regiment, were the heirs (by virtue of currently living in the state) eligible for a land warrant from the state of NC? Also, I believe we now know all the names of the sons of this William Fairfax (hezekiah, Jonathan, William, John..???) ... I never saw one of our names listed ... I believe I was intriqued by one of the sons of Jonathan or William Jr. who was named Peter, but the date for our Peter in North Carolina was all wrong to be the same person ... still, it may indicate a family name somehow and some relative of Peter-NC ... I may be getting some of these generations mixed up as I write off the top of my head!! I believe William died in 1793 (a transcription copy of his will should be in a packet I sent you) ... what might be possible is that these Maryland Fairfaxes were cousins of this other group of Fairfaxes who were in Virginia in the early 1700s (James and Peter), Peter eventually moving to NC around 1750 ... If you look in the notes I sent, I mentioned a Lewis Fairfax who is possibly the "heir" of the William in NC ... there supposedly is a file on this at the archives in Raleigh that I haven't checked ... I think the NC Fairfaxes almost got wiped out during the Revolutionary War, and that's why we don't know much ....Dormand, Herrenton, Micajah, Lewis were all young children and did not have much memory of their fathers?? I also thought that Ignatious Flowers might have been a link to the Maryland Fairfaxes, because that is where he was from (some note somewhere??) .... Anyway, it sure would be nice to know if this Peter Fairfax is ours before one of us goes over to England and visits the church where a Peter Fairfax married a Lydia Booth ... tickets on USAir right now are only $290!! Hello, Looking for the will of a Travis or aka I believe Lewis Samuel Pritchartt (many spellings) who died about 1828 in Fairfax Va. Most certain he left a will as there was a dispute later over slaves by three children. My question is... where would I write for a copy of his will? Do I have to go to Fairfax and search the archives in person? Any advice welcome. Anne

Hello Larry! I do not have any sources at this time ...{:(. Typically, "Pension Applications" for the specific State and Surname are the ones that identify either wounded or KIA soldiers in any war. Typical sites for specific State/Federal War parks mey have such information also. Please let me know if you come across any such listings for North Carolina, as it appears our Dormand and Herrenton FAIRFAX folks were KIA in the Revolutionary War while enlisted in the North Carolina Continental Line since their sons John and Daniel FAIRFAX applied for their pensions in 1797 in North Carolina? I am looking for information about the family of Francis HAGAN who first appears in Frederick, Maryland in 1787 witnessing a marriage. From that date forward Francis lived, married, raised a family and died in Frederick, MD. However, my research has convenced me he was not born in Maryland so I am expanding my search to Fairfax County and other counties joining Maryland. Francis Married Margaret RAMSOWER in Frederick and they had four boys and one girl that I know of. Francis was a Constable and a Deputy Sheriff in Frederick County before he died in 1825. His headstone shows a birth date of June 1763, I don't know where. I am looking for his birth place, the names of his parents, the names of his siblings. Any help is appreciated. Fred Hagan
