    3. Hi Victoria, I have second-hand information on a line of FARRs descending from Samuel FARR b. abt 1747 and Ann RATCLIFF and their only child, Samuel Ratcliff FARR born 1772, several months after his father's death. There are 5 generations down to those born in the 1880's. Connecting names are: Generation 2: WILCOXON Generation 3: DAVIS, BROADWATER, WILCOXON Generation 4: HORN, MALONE Generation 5: HEAD, SMITH, MARIGOLD, WILEY, FRANZONI I have no specific locations within Fairfax County for any of these. The WILCOXONS came from MD to Fairfax Co. about 1787; the RATCLIFFs also came from MD some time before 1770. 3. Hello Norman, The cost for the Social Security Card of $27.00 is minimal compared to what you folks have provided in support and efforts, so free gratis is the only option. I only need to know if the inquiry will fill a needed missing link for somebody's lineage??? ...{:). The 99% of blood kin linkage to current black Fairfax's in America to English blood is assumed to be non-existent, "Slaves of African descent" typically took on their "Master's surname" after the Civil War of 1861 - 1865 because the "Yankee Carpetbaggers" freely awarded 40 acres and a mule in the Southern States to any black that would identify himself with a last name. Most of the black were illiterate, so they would assume either their Master's surname or a popular surname. There was only one black FAIRFAX in the 1800 South Carolina Census, and he was a "Freed - man" from Virginia, apparently one of the Lord FAIRFAX's slaves that was the result of the demise of the Lord Fairfax Proprietary Properties after the Revolutionary War of 1765 - 1882. The name FAIRFAX was very popular for namesake use in the 1700's and 1800's and there is actually a newer residential subdivision named after FAIRFAX in the Columbus County, NC area, simply because of the "classy" reputation of the namesake FAIRFAX. Allen Fairfax and I have located it on www.mapquest.com as Fairfax Heights in Columbus County, NC near/in the County Seat of Whiteville, NC ....{:).... thought we had sumpin', but alas, it was only a namesake for commercial appeal ...{:). I wiil pursue any library references, and I have asked a cousin to pursue a lookout on a "fee-paid" database for an Identified subject of Frankie Fairfax ...{:)....called a BGMI - Biography and Genealogy Master Index via www.ancestry.com , so maybe we can derive some information from that source....{:). ========================================================= Ancestry World Tree entries for FRANK FAIRFAX Social Security Death Index 5 Biography & Genealogy Master Index (BGMI) 1 Phone & Address Listings entries for FRANK FAIRFAX Search for FRANK FAIRFAX in our new message boards Your search returned 14 hits in the databases below. Supposedly John, William, Mary Polly, and Nancy McCrocklin were born in Fairfax Co. I've been told that the 1782 and 1785 Fairfax Tax records lists the father, Jesse McCrocklin ... his wife's name remains a mystery. In addition, it has been said that there is a birth record of "John McCrocklin" in Fairfax Co. Last name variations include: McLaughlin, McLoughlin, McLachlin, MaLauchian, and McLachlan. Just wanted to check that you got the George Jernigan info that I sent via e-mail ....also, found a short written piece in a journal up here about "The Stricklands and Lord Fairfax" ... apparently, both George Washington and Lord Fairfax were descendants of a Walter Strickland of Sizergh Castle (Westmorland) ... I will send a copy of that in the near future ....also, in that journal I found copies of documents pertaining to emigrants to St. Christopher (in the Caribbean), in which the Thomas Fearfax we earlier knew from ship's passenger's lists, is listed along with his fellow passengers ... they left April 3, 1635 from Gravesend?? ... he was listed as being 22 years old ... In that other e-mail, I also asked if you knew anything more about the Mary Johnson who was married to Thomas Fairfax?
