I am trying to find any information about my ggrandmother Frances (Fannie) BEACH. Born about 1849 in Virginia?, Maryland? or Washington, DC? I have seen information which names all three as her birthplace. Her mother's name may have been either Susan or Jane. Father's name unknown. She was married to Denis J. SULLIVAN although I have no proof that a marriage actually took place. They had a daughter, Grace, born about 1871 in Virginia? according to the 1880 census by which time they were living in Staten Island, NY. Any information as to her actual place of birth greatly appreciated. --- Charles Holtzback --- [email protected] --- EarthLink: It's your Internet.
I was wondering if anyone out there was researching the TURNER family in Alexandria, Virginia. Specifically, the information that I have so far is: John M. Turner born 21 June 1797 in Alexandria. At some point he, and possibly his family, moved as John was married in Wilmington, Delaware to Mary Garland in 1827. I would very much appreciate any inforamtion on John's family. Thanks! Sherri
Hello, I am new to this list, so I wanted to post an introduction. I currently live in Kansas, but my family's roots are in the northern VA and DC area. Unfortunately I do not get back as often as I would like to do hands on research. I am researching primarily the surname ELLIOTT and it's spelling variations, in Fairfax and surrounding areas. I have specific connections to Alexandria, Wash DC, Georgetown, etc. I would like to hear from anyone with an ELLIOTT connection in the area, as I am attempting to sort out all of these families, and have made a number of family groupings so far. I will be happy to share my own information and theories. Allied surnames include AVERY, BRIDGETT, DAVIS, and DUNNINGTON. Sincerely, Joe Elliott

Let me know if I can be of any help with getting info to her. Feel free to give her my email address as I will be more than happy to help her if I can. Maybe she will be able to access some info at the university that we may have missed. I am still looking for the book that is online about the Fairfaxes of Alexandria, VA and I believe that bottle you have was more than likely a medicine bottle from DR Orlando Fairfax who practiced in Alexandria. I just have to find the time to do the research for it. Thanks for keeping me in the loop even though I have been laxed in my research for all these last several months. She would be one child of George. Since George left his "military " land to his gr. son, George must have served in the Rev. war. Deeds in Caswell Co., N.C. identify his other children as John and James. So far I have not found a marriage bond for Sythe & James Lanman. Caswell Co. was not formed until 1777, which might mean they were married somewhere else. Who knows where? Could be any place. Many times in genealogy you have to use some reasoning and assumptions, because records are not available. My assumptions are not engraved in stone. I am open to someone else's proof. Good luck in your research and thanks for the inquiry.

I also can't find anything to prove this George was in the RW, but a land record that he gave his grandson John, son of Sythe and James, the land in the Cumberland Waters that he got as a soldier in the Continental Line.
