The original house had four rooms and basement. One of the two original stone chimneys is still standing. A rear wing was added in 1900, and the house stuccoed in 1941. The interior has original pine floors and individually designed mantels. For many years the place was owned by the Freemans and Huffmans. >> ________________ Cite is reported as from book of the Culpeper Co. Historical Society. This entry has special interest to me for three reasons: 1) it seems to relate to Tilman HUFFMAN and Margaret (Williams) FREEMAN, widow of James FREEMAN, whom Tilman married, second, in 1794 2) Nathan, Tilman's grandson, was born, c1804 near Culpeper Court House. and 3) My HUFFMAN/HOFFMAN line is Henry (aka Hans Hendrick-1734 immigrant, Little Fork Group) >Tilman >Benjamin >Nathan > John >Bert >Hugh >Hugh, Jr.(self). Dr. Holtzclaw discusses the early generations of this family extensively in GERMANNA Record #5. Benjamin HUFFMAN, father of Nathan, left Culpeper Co. with his family about 1806 for Kentucky. Tilman HUFFMAN was alive at the time as he died c1826 in Culpeper Co., VA. Correspondence relative to Tilman's estate reached Benjamin in 1826 in KY Was the house described above the HUFFMAN residence between 1794 and 1826? Could use some help here. Best regards, Hugh
