I forget who sent me the information regarding Elizabeth Stipps, born 1729, Orange Co., VA and died 1795 Kanawha Co., (W)VA married to William Morris on January 1, 1746 in Orange Co., VA. Anyway there's a book by Lyle Blackwell (I've never seen it) that explains that the name was written in every conceivable way by different writers and even the family members themselves.
