    2. Bill, It appears to me that the library has chosen to restrict access to this site after it was publicized on these lists. I first heard of the site a week or so ago, and I was able to get in. The password was listed at the site, but now it is not. Too bad, huh? The following message, which was not there last week, now appears: "Librarians will be receiving passwords for this link soon. "Access to HeritageQuest is restricted to use in West Virginia libraries. Visit your local public library to explore this great source of information." Marilyn (This message is in response to the following message:) <Have been trying to get into this site, with no luck. Anyone else having problems, or has it been taken down? Thanks, Bill> ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deb Koplen" <koplend@swbell.net> To: <VACULPEP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 24, 2002 2:34 PM Subject: [VACulpeper] Free Access to Census >Found this in another list, so I thought that I would pass it on. >Free Access to: > >Free census images (thru December 30) 1790-1800-1810-1870-1890 All States > > >http://librarycommission.lib.wv.us > > >Click: FALL 2002 DATABASE TRIALS WEB PAGE > >scroll down > >select HERITAGE QUEST > >password: welcome

    3. My library in Texas lets patrons of the lib get a password and get on line. They do not have general access to all persons on the web. They have several links only available on the lib computers but the ones to the Texas State archives thar are hosted on some State Univ computers are available if you get a password by calling the lib and giving your lib card info. It is poss this is the policy they are using. Not having the money for enough computer space to host many links at a time.
