Lee Shackelford is a CSA surgeon assigned to 37th Reg, Miss Infantry. 1863 JFJ performs marriage ceremony of Sarah Brinson and S. D. Byrd in Rankin Co, MS. August 8, Thomas Foster Newman dies, son of Rev. J.E. Newman, buried at Sageville Methodist Cem, Lauderdale Co, MS. Was this his church? 1865, May 28, John N. Johnson marries Elizabeth Churchill "Betsy" Crutcher in Culpeper Co, VA. Military records indicate he was captured in the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864, Paroled in Ashland, VA April 1865. Zion Baptist Churches. Elected pastor of Mt. Zion in Clarke Co, MS in November 1868. May have lived in Whynot, Lauderdale Co, it's where the Mooney's lived per 1860 census. 1867, July 23, Virginia Newman marries Dr. Lee Shackelford in Lauderdale Co, MS. 1870 Lauderdale Co, MS census, p. 4, family 47, listed as Jerre M. Johnson with wife Harriet and a 22 yr old white female Jane Irby. Who is Jane Irby? Others on same page: family 48) son John N. On p. 23 is the family(43) of Dr. Lee Shackelford and wife Virginia and their 1 yr old son T. Reid Shackelford, also a 42 yr old Earline Shackelford. Family 44, p. 23, Robert E. Coleman family. 1870, March, Jeremiah and son-in-law John W. Mooney make $100 loan from Robert E. Coleman and Thomas W. Coleman in Lauderdale Co, MS. Collateral is 9 yr old mousey gray mare mule, 30 acres, and corn and cotton crops. 1870, Dec 15, Jeremiah performs marriage ceremony of Eliza J. Neumun and D.H. Carr in Hale Co, AL. Was Eliza related to Harriet? Did he and Harriet move back to Alabama? 1871-1877 Where was Jeremiah? John and Betsy moved to Maryland between the birth of their 3rd child Mildred Virginia in MS 1871 and their 4th child John Newman Johnson, Jr. born in MD 1873. 1877-79 Jeremiah and Harriet are in Houston Co, TX - Pastor Lone Star and Augusta Ch 1880 Jeremiah and Harriet on Houston Co, TX census, 13 yr old gson John Mooney lives with them.
