That validates a lot of information for me. What I can give you is that Jacob and Jane had at least 10 children according to the 1850 Letcher Co. Census. Some of the children were born in Virginia and some are listed as So. Carolina and the younger ones were listed as Kentucky. Listed are Nancy C. Harris b. 1830 m. Wm. Bentley, Frances Harris b. 1832, Squire Harris b. 1834 m. Nancy Bentley, Mary Harris b. 1836, John Harris b. 1838 m. Anna "unknown", William Harris b. 1840 m. Martha Bates, Jemima b. 12/13/1842 m. Benjamin Franklin Curnutte, Enoch Ashbury Harris b. 1844, George W. Harris b. 1846 and Rachel Arminta b. 6/12/1850 (just in time to be recorded on the census at 3 mos. who married Reubin David Curnutte. It is through Rachel that I am related to the Harris's. Rachel had George Sherman on 04/11/1869, Estella on 07/07/1873 (my great-grandmother), Berdella (Aunt Berd) on 06/02/1876, Nathaniel Everet on 10/24/1878 (Spanish Ame! rican War and died in the great influenza epidemic in 1919). Estella was married twice. First to Mr. Lones and then to John Wesley Bresler who was my Great Granfather. Estella and John had Sharon Dale Bresler (my Great Uncle) and Lillian Alberta Bresler b. March 1, 1907 (my Grandmother) m. Ernest Dane Reedy who had my mother Natalie Dale Reedy m. Edwin John Freistuhler who had Cynthia Ann. It is through my grandmother Lillian that I got all of my basis for starting my research. That women had dates in her memory that I could not believe. They were always accurate dates. She was an excellent source of information. She also told me that the Kannadays were from Ireland. I so want to trace them back there. It was my understanding from her that the Harris's were Ulster Irish (transplanted Scots). What is the information you have been able to gather on there country of origin?
