Silas, b. ca. 1775, d. before 1860, m. Dec. 7, 1801, to Edith Franklin (b. 1872, d. before 1870) in Surry County. 2. Female, b. ca. 1787. 3. Mary, b. ca. 1790, m. Feb. 16, 1822, to Isom Dickerson in Wilkes County. 4. Louisa “Lucy,” b. ca. 1790, d. ca. 1860, m. Feb. 16, 1816, to Daniel Fields in Wilkes. 5. William Lewis, b. March 4, 1794 or ca. 1804, d. Squire, b. ca. 1797, m. Aug. 25, 1820, to Miriam Phillips in Wilkes, moved away. 8. James, b. ca. 1799, m. Aug. 26, 1820, to Frances Fields in Wilkes, moved to Surry 1860. 9. N.H. (male), b. ca. 1802, moved away. 10. Jacob, b. ca. 1803, m. Aug. 29, 1827, to Jane Kannaday in Wilkes, moved away. Family historian Mary Gillespie Burt offers this list: 1. Silas b. 1775, m. Edith Franklin on Dec. 7, 1801 in Surry. 2. Mary b. 1790, m. Isom Dickerson on Feb. 16, 1822 in Wilkes. 3. Louisa b. 1790, m. Daniel Fields on Feb. 16, 1816 in Wilkes. 4. William Lewis b. March 4, 1794, m. Hannah Smith on Dec. 21, 1826, in Wilkes (the date of the marriage license). 5. Margaret b. 1795, m. Joseph Fields on Feb. 1, 1820. 6. Squire b. 1797, m. Miriam Phillips on Aug. 25, 1820 in Wilkes (however, the marriage license is dated Aug. 26). 7. James b. 1799, m. Frances Fields on Aug. 26, 1820 (the marriage-license date). 8. Jacob b. 1803, m. Jane Kannaday on Aug. 29, 1827 (the marriage-license date). 9. male, no other record, may have died young. 10. female, no other record, may have died young." Also: "William Harris ... claim(ed) 200 acres on the Big Elkin Creek adjacent to his old line, meaning his current or past property, and adjoining the property of William Canady, according to Wilkes County land grant file No. 2681. Warrant/Entry No. 1343 places the date of the claim at Feb. 10, 1815. ... Grant No. 3032 dates the formal Wilkes acquisition as Nov. 30, 1816. Squire Harris, likely William’s son, is listed a member of the survey team. Squire was about 18 at the time of the claim, according to the Perkins and Burt lists. William Canady may be linked to Jane Kannaday, the wife of one of William's sons, Jacob. In her 1981 article, Burt said the Kannadays lived in the same area of Wilkes as the Harrises. Since men of that age often looked no farther than the next homestead for a wife, it is reasonable to suspect Jacob married a Canady (or Kannaday) daughter." Also: "Jacob and Jane Kannady moved to Letcher County, Ky." I hope this helps. I also have a photo of Jacob & Jane from a descendant. Do you have further information about Jacob & Jane? All the best, Stephen Harris
