Surnames: jenkins, sisk, chandler, mcmillan, sutton, baxter, giles, mcgahey, ramsey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QBC.2ACI/2308 Message Board Post: does anyone have any info about, or are you related to, phillip jenkins born 1772 in va, died aft 1850 in cocke co., tn, married 7 jan 1793 in culpepper co., va to rebecca matilda sisk born 1773 in va, died 1855 in cocke co., tn. family tales say that 3 jenkins brothers came from england on a ship and settled in va, i dont know the details for sure. we do know that phillip and 2 of his brothers [jeremiah and john (?james)], their sister, winny, her husband, zachariah styles, phillip's wife, rebecca, their oldest daughter, ruth [the only one of their children not born in tn], rebecca's brother, bartlett sisk, and his wife, mary "mollie" campbell, all left virginia together before 1807 [phillip and rebecca's 2nd child was born 1807 in cocke co., tn]. one of the phillips brothers stayed in nc with other sisk relatives, one went on to sc, and phillip, along with all the rest of the party, went into tn and settled in what is now cosby, cocke co., tn. rebecca's father was timothy sisk born abt 1727 in culpepper co., va, died 19 apr 1806 in culpepper co., va, married 1st to rachel loving abt 1750 [mother of john and daniel sisk], married 2nd to elizabeth bartlett in 1758 [mother of 5 other children of timothy's; bartlett, timothy jr., pluright, barnabas, and rebecca matilda sisk. timothy had a large plantation in culpepper co., va on the rappahannock river. timothy sisk, sr.'s father was john sisk born abt 1709 in ireland, died in nc, married to mary whitecotton [mother of john jr., william, timothy, and daniel(?), there may be more, i dont know. if you have any info to add, or correct, about this family line, please contact me at SNOSURPHR@AOL.COM. we're looking for anything that will help us find our jenkins heritage. thanks
