"The second Court House stood on the same site as the first. When it was first ordered built, there was made an initial appropriation of $1,500. At the May term, 1809, it was ordered that the Fairfax Lodge be paid the sum of $156 for the use of their Hall for 78 days, at $2. per day. The Masonic Hall was then located at 126 N. Main St. in the building now owned by Larry Levy. In 1795, the Masons had built on this lot which had been given to them by General Edward Stevens. The August, 1809, term was held in the new building. This building was torn down in 1870, and the present Court House was built 1870-74 at a cost of $18,700. It was first occupied in 1873 June June
