    1. [VACULPEP] Location of Court Houses of Culpeper Co. and Madison Co., VA
    2. Apparently the early Culpeper Co. Court House was located in what became Madison Co., VA in 1794. This required Culpeper Co., VA to establish a new Court House. Was the new Culpeper Co. Court House located in the town of Culpeper where it is now found? I have a reference to the birth place of Nathan HUFFMAN, son of Benjamin (Tillman, Henry of Little Fork), in 1801 as "near Culpeper Court House." This would be after Madison Co. was formed in 1794. Nathan and his siblings left VA for KY with their parents, Benjamin and wife (unknown), in about 1806. They are found in KY in USC 1810. There is a FREEMAN-HUFFMAN House still standing about 4 miles west of the town of Culpeper. Since Tillman HUFFMAN married 1794 Margaret (Williams) FREEMAN and died c1826 this house may have been the HUFFMAN residence in question. I would like to firm up Nathan's place of birth. Best regards, Hugh
