Lillie and All, I called the Culpepper Clerks Office about 3 weeks ago, requesting a copy of a Will. I might add that I had the exact Book, page #, and was offering to pay generously. The young lady that answered the phone sounding SO surprised; flat out and most unceremoniously informed me, "We don't do those kinds of things here, we don't have time. You'll have to come here yourself!" It made no impact when I told her that I live in Georgia. She behaved as if I were the 1st person who had ever made such an outlandish request. I cannot begin to express how stunned I felt when I hung up the phone. I'm sorry, but I find Culpepper the most difficult of any county to deal with in the whole of VA. I haven't tried writing to them, but I cannot think that I would not be as summarily dismissed as before and I haven't the time for futile exercizes. Do they not have any idea of the money they could generate considering their position in our nation's history? And they're shorthanded? They could put on 2 additional people to do this that would more than amply pay their own salaries. Please pardon the vent, Debra Still Stunned in Atlanta ----- Original Message ----- From: <dodmar@adelphia.net> To: <VACULPEP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2003 9:07 AM Subject: [VACULPEP] Piner/Swindle marriage : Craig, : : The following is from "Culpeper County, Virginia Marriages 1780-1853" Compiled by John Vogt & T.
