Since Daniel Boone is my cousin through his aunt, what is it you need to know? I might have it. Do you want to know where his family lived during his life? This is just off the top of my head without looking it up, but I believe Daniel was born in Pa. and then the family migrated to North Carolina, but there was a time period that he lived in what is now WV on the Kanawha River before he finally ended up in Kentucky. Are you wanting to know if he ever lived in Culpepper County? I don't think so, but I can do further checking if you do not get an answer from someone else. Jean
I was mostly just curious if anyone could give evidence to back up the family tradition that our ancestors went to Missouri with Boone. Are there any records of people who Boone acted as a guide for? Rosters of any sort? Probably not, Id guess, but it would be interesting if so. On 07-Jul-2003 Jean Loudin wrote: > Since Daniel Boone is my cousin through his aunt, what is it you need > to know? Oops! Here is the address of the DBoone List. My ancestor spent a couple years working for Col. Daniel as a soldier and then for George Rogers Clark during Indian Wars after the Rev. War. There were roster of some of those soldiers in KY. Check the History of St.Charles County, Missouri. there, and other places you can find a roster of Daniel Morgan Boone's Mounted Rangers. This was the primary defense force for Missouri during the War of 1812. Spread through this roster, and together with the families that were confined (largely) to the stockaded forts built along the Missouri River (Callaway, Howard, etc.), until safety came with the end of that conflict, you will find most of the earliest families in Missouri who travelled with Daniel Boone. There is also a book of Spanish (and French) Land Grants distributed in early Missouri, before statehood, covering about 1790 to 1803. Daniel Boone, Daniel Morgan Boone's father, was one of the first settlers. A number of Anglo families came with him to Missouri in 1798. Most settled in St. Charles County, Missouri in the Coté d' Sans Dessein and Bachelor Bottoms areas.
