Hello George, My G Grandfather JOHN BROWN was born in Culpeper Co, VA I am told. He was born June 24, 1801 as his tombstone told he was 6 days, 7 MO & 75 years old. He died Jan. 30, 1877. There were so many Brown's & JOHN BROWN'S in this area that I have been unable to make the connection with others in the family, JOHN BROWN married RACHEL PEDEN in about 1828 & their 1st child, ALEXANDER P. BROWN was born in VA in 1829. This Brown family then moved to (I believe) HAMILTON, OHIO and their son ISRAEL was born there in about 1831. In my research I find quite a few Brown's living in that area and perhaps some are relatives. JOHN & his little family moved on to Eugene TWP, Vermillion Co. IN. as he was a sawyer and there were several mills there. They lived there about 30 years according to US census, the last census in 1860 showing them. Nine more child were born to them at this location & some stayed in this area. Between 1860 & 1870 JOHN BROWN moved to Osage TWP, Miami Co. KS, where his oldest son ALEXANDER P. had a homestead and son BENJAMIN & ANDREW both lived in the area for a time. JOHN BROWN & several others in the family are buried in the FONTANA CEMETERY in the Osage Twp, Miami Co. PLEASE WRITE and tell me if you know of any connections to the Brown's in Culpeper. Thank You, Waunita M.
