My mother in law is a Duncan and have traced her family back to Logan County, Virginia. In the 1830 census, Mark Duncan appears with only one child, that of Mark P. (Patterson) Duncan who is aged 22 at the time. So the father, Mark Duncan (does not give a middle initial) must be around 40 - 45 years old. In 1830 census, all the names are alphabetized, very convenient. I still need to looking for Mark in the 1810 and 1800 census. My mother in law's grandfather was Evert Duncan of Greenup County, Ky.
