Dear Listers, My concern for this List has to do with two families: one is BRUCE from Stafford as well as Culpeper. Anne BRUCE married James Francis DRAKE about 1768. They lived in Culpeper when they produced Thomas Drake (1768) and Elizabeth Betsy Bruce Drake (1770). It is likely that EBBD baby-sat for Henry BRUCE who also lived in Culpeper. They were life-long friends as well as cousins. John DRAKE, an Englishman and father of JFD, lived in Culpeper for a time. Anne BRUCE DRAKE died about 1775. JFD married a woman named Winney ____ and the DRAKES moved to Scott Co., KY where JFD died about 1808. The BRUCES of Stafford are well known and have a daughter, Ann, about whose marriage there is no record. But their records show she died about 1775. I have been unable to find any official record of the Drakes in Culpeper. It is only old family documents that put them there. Tom
