I am interested in your information on the Thompson family in Culpeper Co., Virginia. Some of our Thompson/Powell family legend includes Culpeper as a possible site of origin. My ancestors were George Thompson and Francis Powell (daughter of Powell and Pickett, born about 1770 in Virginia). (Legend also has it that the Pickett was a relative of General George Pickett). They walked over the Cumberland Gap to Kentucky in the early 1800s from Virginia. They had 3 children and I only know that my ancestor (their son) was Benjamin Anderson Thompson, born on February 18, 1799 in Virginia Legend also has it that there was a relationship with John Rolfe and Pocahantas..I speculate that it was a Powell connection.
