From Early Settlers of Alabama by Col James Edmonds Saunders of Lawrence County AL & his granddaughter Elizabeth Saunders Blair Stubbs of New Orleans LA My g ggrandfather Joel E. Wynne married (his second) a Margaret Ross, who may have been German. There is one census where the enumerator spelled their daughter's name Margueritta. I've never been able to trace the Ross’s, but see Goodspeed's Shelby Co TN for a possible link to some Germans by that name. Joel Wynne was living in Henderson and or Madison Co TN at the time- late 1830s- before moving to Marshall Co MS by 1840. The Wynnes were from Amelia Co VA. then Wilson Co TN. Levette Pointer's grave in Hernando DeSoto Co MS says he was married to Susy Oliver Yates, but I have him there on the 1910 census and he's living with his in-laws. They are hard to make out, but definitely they are not Yates. He was Dr. David Pointer's grandson born in 1862 in Assumption LA to David Pointer Jr and Leonora Smith Pointer. Terry I just received three pages out of the old Lockhart family Bible( I don't know what happened to the rest of it but was glad to get what I did) It shows that Mary Christine Ried Lockhart died on Dec.24,1901, this matches the tombstone in the Pontotoc cemetery that shows her parents to be Ed and M.E. Lockhart. The next entry on this page show that Mary E or possibly F (really hard to read) Jones Lockhart wife of E.D. Lockhart died on Oct. 9 1902. I know E.D. Lockhart was Edwin Deleon and he was born August 13 1867 but I do not know when or where he died. I really feel this Mary was the babies mother. Found this in a January 1905 volume of the William and Mary Quarterlies: Ser. 1, Vol. 13, No. 3, p. 168 Thomas TABB married, in October, 1814, Mary T. Bolling (marriage bond), daughter of Thomas Tabb Bolling, and died prior to 1823, when his widow married Gen. Ross. Thomas Tabb left an only son, Thomas B. Tabb, who died about 1860. The said Thomas B. Tabb left four children: (1) Virginia Gordon Tabb, who married William A. BOHANNON; (2) John F. Ross Tabb, who died about 1879, leaving his widow, Amanda L., and the following children, viz., Mary Bolling, who married Charles E. Heisig; Charles Ross Tabb, who married Alice Tabb; Erwin L. and Elizabeth Lanear Tabb; (3) Laura T., who married John M. Moody, and had William Mason Moody; (4) Mary e., who married Lockhart and had one child, Annie E. Lockhart (papers in Richmond Chancery Court: William A. BOHANNON and Virginia Gordon, his wife, vs. Tabb & Justis). He was my great great grandfather on my mother's side. His son, John Mason Moody, John Mason Moody's wife, Martha Wright, and their children are listed in the 1850 census. The children are: William F. Mary E. John Mason Jr. Marth A. Laura John Mason Jr. served in the Civil war as a captain in the NC 12th regiment and later in the 32nd regiment. For most of his adult life John Mason Jr. resided in Columbus, Mississippi. His first wife was Laura T. Tabb; his second wife was Rosa Terry. He died around 1890. It is from his son, Gilbert Leigh Moody that I am descended. Most particularly I am interested in knowing where in Virginia William Moody was born and the name of his parents. I would appreciate any help and of course I am willing to share what information I have. He married Margaret Price in McLennan County TX in 1868. There is a family who seems to be this Taylor family in the 1880 Hamilton County TX census p 369b, but they are listed as Taler. All others in the census have the more common spelling. GM, or the person who gave the info, says his parents were both born in Vermont. He died in Parker County in 1911, and is buried in Central Cemetery. Those are facts. I have been told his father was Isaac or Edmund Taylor, but I have no backup to this. Anyone on the list who can help? His mother's maiden name may have been Crowder. I'd even like to have a different census on this family to see where the parents are listed as being born - VT or is it VA? Thanks for any help. Lolene Laura B. Wife of E.H.
