    1. Re: Looking for Ignatius Davis/Mary Miller families, 1740-1800
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBC.2ACI/2332.1.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: I have quite a bit of information on this Davis family, though not everything I would like. I believe Ignatious was born more around 1720 to 1725 rather than around 1740. There was a Joseph Davis in Bath County born in 1745 who I believe was his son. I have personally gone to his grave and examined the tombstone to make sure of the date and there is no doubt. I have also taken rubbings of this stone. Ignatious named a Joseph as one of his sons in his will. Personally I doubt that Ignatious died on Feb 28, 1803. That is the date his widow went to court to get approval to administer the estate. He probaly died a few weeks before that. When Joseph's son, David, died, his death record says he was born in Culpeper County, VA, but I am not convinced it is correct. It could be, but I did some researce in Culpeper. There were a few Davises there but none that I could tie into. However, this particular David was born in Bath County, KY, in 1804. These Davises went to Kent! ucky about 1790-1792, some of them from Washington County, PA. I haven't been able to find all of them before Ky yet. Luke died in Decatur County, Indiana in 1827. I have gobs of records concerning his estate. Luke married Mary Brown in Bourbon County, KY, in 1796. I doubt if Ignatious was in the Revolution. Joseph might have been but I don't have any records. Luke was born between 1765 and 1771, according to the census and tax records. He was too young to have been in the Revolution. Ignatious' other children were John, David, Asa, Mary, Nancy and Dorcas. I don't have any proof yet but I think Mary married a John Six, who was mentioned in Ignatious' will, and I believe Nancy married a Robert Freeland. These two families were also in Washington County, PA, prior to going to Kentucky.

    2. DOC HURT
    3. Hey There, If you have a Genealogical Society there in Culpeper Co. would you see if anyone is doing research on a SLAUGHTER FAMILY. My 9th great-grandmother was from Culpeper Co. and married Ira M. Hurt, either in Bedford or Campbell Cos. and that is about all we know about her until they moved to Franklin Co., VA. and started their family. Thanks Happy hunting doc ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 11, 2006 3:51 PM Subject: [VACULPEP] Re: Looking for Ignatius Davis/Mary Miller families, 1740-1800 > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBC.2ACI/2332.1.1.2.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I have quite a bit of information on this Davis family, though not > everything I would like.
