Surnames: Boswell, Basal, Bozell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QBC.2ACI/2887 Message Board Post: My fourth great grandfather was living around Culpepper County Virginia in 1787 when he is listed in the Property Tax Census Records. It shows he had three horses and two cows. He is also located around northeastern Culpepper County which became Madison County where he purchases 220 acres of land adjoining Hugh and Lewis Donoho. He is later shown in property records where he purchased on April 7, 1780, 182 acres near the Madison Gap and northest of Hawksbill Mountain . Both peices of land are now in the Shenandoah National Park. The property was six miles south of the Frances Brandom's property in present day Rappahannock County, and about one mile west of Robertson Mountain where the Robinson/Robertson families lived. He was to have participated in the Revolutionary War, however, no records to date can support his efforts in that war. He may have been in the Militia and many of those recrods have been destroyed. He is the father of the following children: Henry Boswell, wife Lucy Brandom, George Boswell wife Amelia Robinson, Ezekiel Boswell wife Lucy Robertson. His daughters were Sarah Boswell husband John Brandom, Susanna Boswell husband Levi Rouse, and Frances Boswell husband Robert McKibben. There have been no records found that gives the maiden name of his wife or the mother to these children. There is one record that shows Mildred Boswell. If anyone has any information regarding George and his wife, I would appreciate you sharing it with me. Our name was returned to the original spelling and pronunciation of Bozell after my third great grand father settled in Indiana around 1824. Deborah Bozell Donahue
