Let me change a comment. The Girl and Boy Scouts could take up the project on the Ross Cemetery. However they will need several adults (men and ladies) to assist. They could receive credits for this project. Lee Hash
Since I haven't seen this cemetery I can't state an opinion but I expect you are right. But I do like the idea of Scout or FFA projects to work on these things. It both teaches and restores. The SAR is happy to add a new and ledgible stone to any Rev. Vets. found with hard to read or non existant marker. I have seen this done in Gallia Co. OH. Unfortunately, Daniel Ross was not an American Revolutionary War Soldier, instead he was on the British side; captured at Yorktown; served under Lord Cornwallis. He was imprisoned there near Falmouth/Richmond area. In 1784, Daniel Ross was released from prison. Next we find him in 1786, marriage record to Jean Lindsey who signed for herself. We could never find what Daniel's occupation was until one day my late husband was reading the Diary of Mr. Slaughter. In Culpeper many years later, Mr. Slaughter's Diary stated Daniel Ross was a tailor as they were friends. The mystery was solved! After this we began looking at other diaries, etc. to find out other information possibly on other ancestors, so paid off, others didn't. Use all the resources you can.
