I have gotten most of it from others and not verified all of it myself, but it at least gives clues where to look. I'd be glad to get corrections and additions. Reuben HAM married Elizabeth PEMBLETON* 28 Jan 1790 Stephen HAM married Rhoda COFFER 8 Apr 1782 Frances HAM married John DAVIS 20 May 1787 Source: Raleigh T. Green "Genealogical and Historical Notes on Culpeper County, Virginia" -- There are several editions of this book and I don't know which one this information came from--it was sent to me. Possibly the marriage records are in the Culpeper County Courthouse.) At least Stephen Ham was married by Rev. George Eve, a Baptist minister. The parents of Reuben and Stephen HAM (and probably Frances HAM) are said to be Edward HAM and Marise BURGESS. In 1783 Edward and James HAM are on the Culpeper personal property tax list, apparently living together, so James may also be a son, over 21 in 1783. Edward HAM lived in a portion of Culpeper County that is now Madison County. Others on that tax list had property around Wolftown, VA, not far from the present-day Greene County line. Stephen HAM had records with the Neal family who lived near Neal Mountain west of Shelby, VA. The information below on Edward HAM is from Neil Ashton (e-mail: [email protected]) and from [email protected] (the latter's website is: http://www.angelfire.com/home/hammartin/ ) Edward HAM's father was Samuel HAM who died in Spotsylvania County VA. His will was written 2 Mar 1737, proved 2 May 1738. It names his wife Margaret, "leg. daughter" Ann, sons Samuel, William and EDWARD HAM. The witnesses were John FOSTER and William HAM.
