Author: Kristi_Moffitt Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.c ulpeper/4484/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have the book Virginia Wills and Administrations 1632-1800 compiled by Clayton Torrence. It is "an index of wills recorded in local courts of VA, 1632-1800 and of administrations on estates shown by inventories of the estates of intestates recorded in will (and other) books of local courts, 1632-1800" I will do FREE lookups in this source. Please note the dates covered by this index are 1632-1800. The book gives the name of the testator and the date as well as the county. That is all the information given. Please email me off list with your requests at [email protected] Please include VA Wills in the subject line of your email. Wills &Administrations 1632-1800. They are such a big help in finding out who is related to. I am putting in a request on the surname McConchie. There has been various spellings, but most of them come close to looking or sounding like McConchie. If you have time and don't mind also the surname Spicer would be a great help as well, that is my brick wall. A big thanks in advance for your help. Wesley Pippenger has also completed a very thorough survey of wills and administration for the period 1800-1865 (he has only yet to complete some counties in the Northern Neck. However, the PREMIER source with much more information about where to find the will or administration is on the Library of Virginia web site.
