In the list of numbers of people taken in Orange County by Thomas Barbour Census 1782 I know the name Staff was really Stapp. Joshua Stapp Senior, Joshua Stapp, Achilles Stapp and Thomas Stapp. Abraham Stapp was in VA c 1685 when he married Dorothy Moss. John Wilhite is listed as 8 in family in 1782 in Orange County. Could that be John, Lucy Stapp, his wife and some of the following children, Tobias, Jennie, Catherine, Martitia, Mourning, John, Achilles, Jesse M, Lewis, Joshua, Barbara. I have a Margaret Monon also. Some of these could have been married in VA. I know Tobias married in Woodford County 1801 to Nancy Margaret Ellis and John signed for his young son Achilles to marry in Woodford County. John, the son of John W and Lucy, married a Jane Welch, Mourning married a John Collins, Achillies married Polly Hall in Woodford County, Jesse married a Catherine Stone, Jennie married a Handcock, Lewis married at least three times. Earley, Patsy Taylor and Mary Sheets, Martisha married a Gerarous Jarred Ryker, Joshua married Mary Polly Sparks, Barbara a Hamilton, Margaret Monon married Alexander Guthrie Jr. and Catherine a John West. Young John, Mourning Anna, Achillies, Jesse M were born before 1782 and the others after 1782. Last children to my knowledge born by 1790. We know John Wilhite married into a family that had been in VA way before the Germanna Group as Abraham Stapp Senior married c 1648 to Dorothy North and died 1678 in Old Rappahannock County, VA. It is my Wilhite/Willhoite Quest mixed with Stapp, Towles,, Coffey, Durham etc. on one side of the family that keeps me searching. Slaughter, Hord, Miller on the other side.
