    2. Can you please do the favor of looking up the HUME marriages in Culpeper or Madison County? It is interesting to see the Strother name all the time. When I was a girl in Charleston WV we had no whites by this name but we had myriad colored friends whose names were changed versions of this-in my own class I had Ester Mae Strawther, Frank Straughter, and Cynthia Strader. The cause of complaint is not stated. 1776 The collector is ordered to pay Samuel Clayton three pounds and Seven shillings and sixpence for laying off the church brick lot. 1784 Churchwardens provide the goods for the poor on the best terms they can and report the results. James Jett, is appointed clerk of the vestry, and Samuel Clayton and Robert Yancy churchwardens. Ann Coleman daughter of Robert Coleman & Sarah Ann Saunders married Samuel Clayton of Caroline Co Note: Robert Coleman in his will [1793] recorded in Culpeper, leaves Legacies to his daughters Ann Clayton, Sarah Slaughter, Lucy Strother, Frances Crutcher, and Susanna Yancey.
