Click on Image # 30 Left hand side of page under 'L' you will find: James LINDSAY taxed for 1 tithable, 3 horses, 10 cattle Right hand side page under 'S' you will find: William STANTON taxed for 18 slaves, 9 horses, 31 cattle [Note that he is not taxed as a tithable here on Elijah Kirtley's List.] Click on Image # 39 This is the area James Hord is responsible for, where you will find: William STANTON *is taxed as 1 tithable*, 27 slaves, 11 horses, 38 cattle, and 4 wheels. Which I'm guessing is where he actually lives. Couldn't find any other STANTON pp1-41 on anyone else's list, though the names are hard to read and I'm on my first cup o' coffee this morning. Am guessing if Champ was born a year later in 1783 Culpeper, he just might be the son of this William who doesn't seem to have any sons that have reached the age of 16 in order to be listed along with him as tithables likely to have fathered Champ.
