    3. My 5th great grandparents are Moses Cushenberry that was born in Virginia and married Ann unknown. He moved to Bourbon Co., Ky where he died 1791. For approximately 26 years I and my cousins have tried to prove Moses lineage. Everything points to the Quisenberry family of Va.   Moses may have been born ca  ca 1720-1740 in Va since he died in 1791. He moved to Bourbon Co.,,Ky. and the first record is dated Jan. 1783. He signed a petition entitled "West Side of Laurem Mountains Inhabitants to the President of the Continental Congress." On 25 Ag 1786 he signed "The Petitions of the Early Inhabitants of Kentucky to the General Assembly of Virginia." One of the Trustees was Daniel Boone.   He lived at the  Limestone , Licking Creek  settlement. Dated 25 Aug 1786. He and his sons Elijah, John, and Vincent were in the records.  At the same time Rev. James Cushenberry son of Aaron Quisenberry and Joyce Dudley m (1) Jane Burris dau of Thomas Burris & Frances Tandy  (2) Chloe Shipp were living in the area.   Moses and his wife Ann were part of Bryan's Station Curch and later Cooper's Run Baptist Church. The family later attended David's Fork Baptist Church.  In 1787 Rawleigh Chinn, Smith Darnell lived on one side of Moses and on the other side lived John Tandy.   In Fayette Co., Ky Deeds 1802 Elijah, William and John Cushenberry were in deeds with Elijah Craig, John Craig, Lewis Craig of the Traveling Church,  living near Thomas Burris,, etc.   Hezekiah Ellis and Mildred Burbridge had children : i. Elizabeth Ellis m. Joseph McCann ii. Sarah Ellis m. O'Neal McCann   William Ellis son of Hezekiah Ellis and Mildred Burbridge had a son  Johnson Ellis who m. Obediience Cushenberry dau of Elijah Cushenberry son of Moses Cushenberry.   Johnson & Obedience dau Everlina m. Robert Ficklin Pulliam.   In Tax Records of Fayette Co., Ky with the Cushenberry family were William Cave, Toliver Craig, John & Thomas Graves, John Ellis, William & Thomas Ellis, Joseph & Neil McCann, etc.   The Cushenberry surname has been spelled several ways: Cushenberry, Coosenberry, Cusenbary and Quisenberry, etc. When Moses died in Bourbon Co., Ky in 1791, he had no will, but the court oversaw the estate in May 1792. It was recorded in June 1792. His widow Anne  was named Administratror of Moses Cushenbery's estate who came to court and qualified with Nicholas Lindsay (her son-in-law) and William Quisenberry, her securities and gave bond.   Children of Moses and Ann: (1) John Cushenberry m. This Aaron m Nancy Tilford. ... His parents are John A. Quisenberry and Rachel Henderson..... This John A. is the son of Thomas Quisenberry and Susannah Rawlings. ...Thomas is the son of Humphrey Quisenberry and Elizabeth Mothershead. .... Humphrey is the son of John Quisenberry, Sr and Anne Pope dau of Nathaniel Pope and Lucy unknown.   These families were in Westmoreland, King George, Caroline, Spotsylvania and Orange counties in Va.   A lot of associations and intermarriages but nothing concrete in proving Moses Cushenberry's parentage.  Any info would be appreciated especially in formation of Ky counties from Virginia as I don't know what county Moses was from in Va.   Marianne Dillow
