Dear Nikki, I am one of the VA Thornton descendants. She married a Samuel Pryor early in the 1700's. And that is what caught my attention about your email. Then you mentioned Aphia for a first name. My great grandmother, had an aunt named Apphia Edwards and my ggm was named Mary Apphia, buit lways called Apphia or Aph, as were her descendants. I think it Apphia is a bible name but it could have been the name of a ship on which her ancestors came across the Ocean, kind of like the Abigail for whom so many women were named. Odd coincidence, since the Edwards were not related to the Thorntons except by marriage. My Pryors and Thorntons and Edwardses were in KY before it was a state in 1792 or whenever.
