As many are well aware clerks had trouble writing the same name the same way more than once. My family is Southard and there are many spellings and Sudduth is one of them in official tax records (Stafford and Madison). DNA seems to think we are related to the Southworths of England and Southards of Plymouth but not the Southards of New Amsterdam. Anyway Southard and its many spellings comes from Stafford and Fauquier and migrated across Culpeper to Madison c 1796.
