Any idea if his birthyear might be "abt 1805" and/or whom he married in Tennessee? Would your ancestor more likely have been born in Fauquier Co Va? I do have a couple of bunches of these in my gedcom, mostly connected to the GREENs of Orange & Culpeper, Brandy Station; but for some reason I can't figure out at the moment, at least one of Northumberland and some of Fauquier. I googled "Stella Pickett Hardy" in the book search at: http://books.google.com/ and in Full View mode, which means whole book instead of snippet thereof, up came : Colonial families of the Southern states of America: A History and Genealogy of Colonial Families who Settled in the Colonies Prior to the Revolution By Stella Pickett Hardy Published by Wright, 1911 Original from the University of Wisconsin - Madison Digitized May 23, 2008 643 pages .
Cynthia: Samuel J. Blackwell (aka Jonhson Samuel Blackwell) married Mary Isham around 1835 in Tennessee. She was a daughter of Henry Isham and Elizabeth Bell of Roane County, Tennessee. The marriage record does not survive. This marriage is proved by probate records for Henry Isham. They are both buried at Fee Fee Cemetery in St. Louis County. Mary Isham, married Samuel J. Blackwell in Tennessee, and they were living in Polk County, TN in 1840. Tennessee is my black hole of genealogy when it comes to these people. I was very fortunate to have the Isham line taken back one step further due to a post on the GENFORUM list about 12 years ago. We haven't been able to take that line back any further. All we know is that Henry Isham was born in Virginia in 1774. This is probably not the right forum to be talking about the Blackwells (at least this line.) But, since it has been so dead lately, what have we got to lose? Craig On Mar 1, 2009, at 10:27 AM, Cynthia Claytonroberts wrote: > >> Samuel J. Blackwell, born 1805 in "VIRGINIA".
