We have all sorts of definitive *proof* that the turkey folk were not the first to settle in America and that the Virginia Colony, a not particularly religious, but a speculative-investment endeaver preceeded them by a number of years. I suppose if this were an open blog, we'd be spending all our time reading demands to Prove That to 97% of the citizens of the United States of America. Personally I have other priorities, although I did inform my grown kids one Thanksgiving, and remind them when it comes up again. As far as the Obama - Conway connection goes Craig, the line I submitted (in December I believe) checks out for me. So instead of just flapping your gums ~ if you, or Fern, or anybody wants to actually spend the time Researching it, even if just to disprove it which requires at least the same amount of work; have at it, otherwise give it a rest. .

I too have an ancestor who sat down at the first Thanksgiving dinner - He (a blacksmith named William PALMER) came over the very next summer after the Mayflower.
