    3. If anyone is interested, I know the administrator of the Corbin DNA surname project testing with Family Tree DNA based in Houston. If anyone has a male Corbin to test they can go through a Corbin surname project to help prove their line plus give them Corbin matches and they can get in touch with them as they give permission to be contacted. They also give their pedigrees. I have tested my female mtDNA with FTDNA. Anyway, just a suggestion. :) Marianne Dillow

    3. Thanks Charlene for your lineage, I have only researched my direct line Eltonhead Conway that married Henry Thacker, Sr. to Eltonhead Conway's parents Martha Eltonhead and Edwin Conway, Sr. to Richard Eltonhead and Ann Sutton. I haven't researched the other Eltonhead sisters and this is a first attempt to do that, plus my Conway line on the brother of Eltonhead which is Edwin Conway, Jr. In publications as well as the internet there are always errors. I bought the book but am researching it like others who wanted the attachment as no one but the author can answer for their publication on the Eltonhead descendants. Where did you get the info it was Anne instead of Alice ? That definitely needs to be straightened out. Do you have a record or a source we could use to make the right correction ? I saw you had a death date for Anne. :) Marianne Dillow

    2. Hello All, Bessie Mae was my maternal aunt; I have a copy of the Charles Hamilton Kilby Bible family pages from which the Library of Va.put a copy online. Her DOB given was 31 July 1879. "Jeter Corbin and Bessie May Kilby was [sic] married Oct. 5,1904".A DOB for Jeter was given as Nov. 15,1873. He was one of eight children listed. Other names mentioned were Tancill, Tatum, Carpenter, Peyton, Clark, Smith, Beasley and Spicer. I would be interested in exchanging info with present day Kilbys from Culpeper, Madison, and Orange counties at least, descended from William Ansylum Kilby and Damsel Clatterbuck with especial regard to the male lines for a DNA project. 3. There was a Manakintown in Powhatan County, just outside Richmond. It was originally a village site of the Monacan Indians, later a Huguenot settlement. Right on the James River, with a ferry across it, it grew to be a prosperous, small town. The name still exists in the area, Manakintown Ferry Road, etc. Nancy ------- I was never lost, but I was bewildered once for three days. --Daniel Boone On Nov 16, 2008, at 4:11 PM, Eliz Hanebury wrote: > I have no idea, I just keep seeing them listed in the Colony. 1. [VACULPEP] HUME surname
    2. I know that I am descended from a Hume in Culpeper (now Madison County?) named George Hume, but while I see three Humes here, none of them are George, whose wife was Elizabeth PROCTOR. My Humes migrated to what is now Greenbrier County, WV. Can anyone help me with this family? Did George have to go on a later ship that the Elizabeth and Ann? I had heard he was on Captain Doddridge's ship. The line I have documented goes back to George Hume(s), married to Clarissa HINKLE. I believe his father is James HUME (born Fauquier County, 1768, which I think had just been created from Prince William County)and his wife is Jane MC MILLION. Then I believe James's father is William HUME and his wife was Ann___no surname found yet. I know that William and Ann married in Fauquier County, VA. If anyone else is working on these family lines, please let's get together and compare notes. I know there is a great deal of difficulty when I am tracing pioneers to the western part of Virginia and now WV. I wonder how many Hume families migrated to what is now Culpeper and Madison Counties, VA? Sharon Lee Gates In a message dated 11/16/08 12:31:11 P.M.
